About Vocational Qualifications (VQ): We are responsible for the assessment of c1million learners annually in the UK and internationally who take our vocational qualifications. Our vocational portfolio includes BTEC, T-level, Higher Nationals, Work Based Learning, Skills and Apprenticeship qualifications and assessment and we deliver results throughout the year including the peak summer period, so that learners can progress to Higher Education or work.
We operate in a highly regulated environment and our current operating model is supported by multiple legacy processes and in-house developed technologies. We are embarking on a strategic transformation programme to analyse and re-design our delivery processes leveraging AI and predictive analytics and to migrate from on-premise monolithic applications to cloud based, cost effective, scalable, and resilient services.
The Role:
This role will sit in the VQ Delivery & Transformation team and will review existing processes and re-design as appropriate using Lean design principles, AI and predictive analytics to reduce manual effort, increase scalability, evidence the efficacy and outcomes of the processes and ensure accessibility, security and data privacy requirements are met.
As well as a demonstrable expertise in lean process design and/or data analytics, the successful candidate will have excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, the ability to quickly understand and map complex processes with multiple sub-processes and handoffs and experience of re-imagining processes using digital technologies, AI and predictive analytics.
Key Accountabilities:
- Build strong relationships with key business and technology stakeholders to understand the context of VQ and related Pearson businesses and co-create solutions to existing business problems and enable business capabilities of the future.
- Review and map existing processes and data flows and identify process steps that can be optimised/replaced using technology or and/or AI.
- Work with business, product and technology colleagues to map revised processes, support use case/user story creation and successfully implement & measure process change.
- Work with accessibility, security and data privacy teams to identify and implement improvements to existing processes and to ensure that requirements are fully considered and embedded in future processes.
- Support business case creation and cost/benefit analysis, telling the story of why change is needed, how business problems will be solved and how the new processes will support business strategies and future capabilities.
- Identify priority areas where AI can be utilised to innovate and disrupt in line with Pearson’s standing as the leader in the vocational sector and the broader Workforce Skills strategy.
- Ensure all analytical artefacts e.g. evaluation documentation, process maps, user journeys, conceptual models and data mapping sheets are produced in a consistent and timely manner with a high degree of accuracy and completeness.
- Work as part of a programme team(s) to deliver process changes to schedule whilst ensuring deliverables remain in line with strategy and within agreed scope.
